The trees in the yard breathe history
Our hotel is located on the Johannisberg hill, where Johannisberg Manor was once located. There have been retirement homes in the area since 1883. Of the buildings used by the hotel, Poppeli represents the construction of the late 1950s and Syreeni the 1980s. Retirement home operations ended at the end of the 2010s. The yard area has historic old buildings and a park with protected stone fences and a fixed ancient relic. As far as is known, the area has been inhabited as early as the 1400s. In the buildings and in the yard area, you can still sense the calmness and spirit of the past.
Siblings behind Easystay
Here, a team of three siblings and one spouse will be in charge of your accommodation. We, Susan Petterson, Ann Ewalds, Ben Ewalds and Kurt Nevalainen, got the idea to become hotel entrepreneurs in the autumn of 2019.
From a family orchestra to a family business
It all started when the founder of the hotel and Anne's son-in-law, John Rönnholm, was looking for a successor to the hotel. Ann suggested that what if we siblings took over the hotel.
It didn't take long to persuade us to join!
In Porvoo, we are known for our Harpolekarna folk music band, and we are used to working together, so why not try what it would be like to work together as hotel entrepreneurs. We also hired Anne's husband, Kurt Nevalainen, who works as a yard and renovation entrepreneur, as a maintenance man. There is always a need for handy hands. Ann has worked as a restaurant chef and refrigeration assistant and worked as a secretary and in the wellness sector, Susan at a kindergarten, hospital, restaurant and shop assistant and Ben as a math teacher. If necessary, we are also assisted by Susan's husband, Guy Petterson, and Ben's wife, Sari Ewalds. So you have a real family business at your service! Welcome to our Easystay Hotel!
